DEMOGRAPHIC TRANSITION
I believe that Ireland is in Stage 4 of demographic transition. There are many reasons for this. For instance, Ireland has a VERY low NIR, at 0.8%, as is characteristic of Stage 4. Another reason is that of the current population pyramid being quite similar to that of a Stage 4 population pyramid, and will soon form a column. One final reason is that the TFR is at less than 2, which means women will have less than 2 children in their childbearing years, so she will not even replace herself and her husband.
